AMEND, the two-placed in the EMEA region, has defeated the Berlin Valorant Champions Tour Champion Gambit Esports and was crowned to the winner of the VCT Champions 2021. While AMEND wins the series in an intense five-game banger of a series with 3: 2, the team has recorded its name as the first world champion in the annals of the history of Valorant.
According to sports charts, over one million people switched on at the height of the finale, with the series average 469,083 spectators — a proof of monstrous growth of Valorant E-Sport in the course of the year.
AMEND made a dominant run by the event and sat down in the quarter-finals with 2-0 to Team Secret before dominating his other regional representative Team Liquid with 2-0 in the semifinals. However, today's day proved to be a big challenge for the team as both sides won their choice of cards. In the end it was on Split, the AMEND won convincingly with 13-8 in the laps.
ASCENDS victory is also the third time that the Team Gambit defeats in all competitions. In the quarter-final match of Red Bull Home Ground 2 last month, AMEND defeated the overall-Russian team, while the semi-final of the VCT Stage 3 EMEA Upper Bracket also went away ASCENDS — although the team was later defeated by Gambit in the Lower Bracket final. Therefore, we were always in a narrow series and were spoiled with five games in top quality.
